On-staff chiropractor offers opiate-free option to back, neck and other pain
Back pain, neck pain and sciatica affect many people, regardless of their income or health care coverage.
Western Sierra Medical Clinic and chiropractor Jay Patt are committed to ensuring that all residents dealing with pain have access to chiropractic treatment.
Regardless of a patient’s income, Western Sierra provides on-staff chiropractic to help alleviate the pain, the paperwork and the cost for patients.
Medical providers seamlessly refer patients to Dr. Patt for chiropractic treatment.
Dr. Patt joined Western Sierra in December 2018. He is a graduate of the Pasadena College of Chiropractic and has been practicing chiropractic for 37 years.
“It’s very helpful” to be on-site and have access to providers,” said Dr. Patt, who reviews patients’ medical history to determine the most effective treatment. “The services we offer are an important part of health care.”
Dr. Patt can help patients with acute or chronic pain, and also provides maintenance care. After treatment, that aching back, crick in the neck or stiff shoulder could be a mere memory.
Chiropractic treatment has become more mainstream the past few decades and is a viable option to “control pain without opiates,” he said. Chiropractic care is the “largest non-drug medical practice in the world.”
In fact, Dr. Patt was attracted to chiropractic medicine because of the opiate-free treatment. “I was always interested in medicine, but I didn’t want to prescribe medications or perform surgery,” he said.
After graduation, he became a full-time faculty member for ten years at Pasadena College, while maintaining a private practice in Pasadena, California. Then, after the occasional trip from Southern California to visit friends in Nevada County, he decided to move to Grass Valley where he has been practicing since 1992 and taught Human Anatomy in the pre-nursing program at Sierra College from 1994 – 2018.
He currently maintains an office in Grass Valley while also working at Western Sierra Medical Clinic.
“Working with the Western Sierra Providers is wonderful,” Dr. Patt said. “They are very concerned with the health care of their patients and are just a good group of people to work with.”
